Georgia Marion Rothlaender

July 24, 1943 - January 31, 2010

She's goin' like Elsie!

Georgia passed away peacefully January 31, 2010 at Aegis of Lynnwood, Washington. She was cared for by the wonderful staff for the final three months of her life.

She was born to Otto Charles and Marion Maxine Rothlaender on July 24, 1943 in Astoria, Oregon. She was from a Navy family and lived many places including the Philippines where she was a Charter Member of Jobes Daughters, eventually settling in Seattle in 1957, where she remained for most of her life.

Georgia was a bookkeeper for her whole working life. Her last position was with SRS Medical in Redmond where she worked with her friends Mary, Jane, Des, Claire, Debbie, Cass, Laura, Terry and her wonderful boss Kevin. She was a 'computer maven' and never stopped developing that skill.

Georgia had many interest over the years. She enjoyed skiing, sewing, quilting and knitting. She spoke German and Russian and attended one year at the University of Washington. Her favorite band was Cream (especially Ginger Baker) and her favorite song was Bob Seger's 'Roll Me Away' and Bob Dylan's 'Forever Young'. Her favorite food was vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup.

Georgia lived quietly in Shoreline, Washington and was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Diane Mendenhall and her beloved cats: Beanie, T.T. and Boo Boo. She spent many happy days with her sister Gail on Whidbey Island.

Georgia was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer in 2006 and was given a few months to live. Georgia was very pragmatic about this but wasn't ready to give up and with the help of her wonderful Dr. Sharmila Ahmed and with her sister Gail at her side she fought a heroic battle for three years until the cancer took her January 31, 2010. She was an inspiration to all and will be missed and remembered with love.

She is survived by her sister Gail Leak, her brother-in-law Bill and their son Mike, her brother-in-law Tom Mendenhall, his daughter Kim Greenawalt, her husband Jeff and their sons Matt and Alex and Tom's sons Rick and Vince Mendenhall and her best friend Bobbie Aranowski.

Life's Journey

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "...Holy shit ... what a ride!"

So in other words what you're saying is when you go you're goin' like Elsie!
