Minta Mildred (Peacock) Bond died at age 90 of natural causes on January 1, 2011 in Everett, Washington. Mildred was born on July 13, 1920 in Whitney, Texas, the last of six children born to Zachariah T. Peacock and Cornie Belle (Worley) Peacock.

She grew up on a farm in Whitney, Texas, graduated from Whitney High School and moved to Houston to attend business school. In 1942, she married Clifford M. (Sparky) Bond and moved to Baytown, Texas where she and Sparky raised two daughters and operated See Bond Realty, a successful real estate brokerage and insurance business until his death in 1975 at which time she moved to Comanche, Texas. In Comanche, she managed a dress shop, and assisted her daughter, Bonnie, in managing the retail services of Service Drug Store.

She later moved to Austin, Texas to be near daughter Donna and son-in-law, Maury Hood where she resided at The Renaissance Retirement Center for the next 15 years. During her stay at The Renaissance, she showed apartments, worked as manager of the Country Store, served on The Hospitality Committee, and was a formidable poker player. Mildred also lived at the White Stone in Comanche, Texas and Harbour Pointe Retirement in Everett, Washington.

Mildred was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an extraordinary cook and expert seamstress, talents she shared freely with friends and family. Big dinners with lots of people were her forte. Mrs. Bond never met a stranger and was eager to be of service to her friends and family.

Mrs. Bond was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford M. (Sparky) Bond; sisters, Mae Treadway Donnelly and Mardell Capers; brothers, Keith Peacock, Woodrow Peacock, and Newt Peacock; and step-sons, Wallace C. Bond and James R. Bond.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Bond Hood (Maury) of Clinton, Washington and Bonnie Bond Huett of Comanche, Texas; step-son, Pat Bond of LaPorte, Texas; daughter-in-law, Mignon Bond of The Woodlands, Texas; a niece, Wanda Rutland (Durward) of San Angelo, Texas; and former sons-in-law Bill Darling of Austin, Texas and John Huett of Comanche, Texas.

Other survivors include granddaughters, Julie Darling and Jancy Darling; grandsons, Jason Huett (Kim), Ryan Huett (Tammy), Bryce Huett (Alice); step-grandchildren, Jamie Bond; Melissa Bond Grabois (Todd); Michelle Johnson (Clayton); Joe Bond (Cindy), and Nancy Venezia (Maurizio); great grandchildren, Caleb, Willow Jack, Jonathan, Lucas, Isla and Ian Huett; step-great grandchildren, Garrett, Mignon, Jackson, James and Grayson Grabois; Cole, Sloane and Chappell Johnson; Ethan, Peyton and Kyle Bond; and NicoVenezia.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. Lisa Ivanjack and the Providence Hospital Palliative Care Team at Everett Clinic, Sunrise View Convalescent Center, Choice Advisory Elder Care Placement Service, and most especially to Tina Taylor and staff at TaylorMade Care Adult Family Home. The family is also very grateful to the professionals associated with Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County.

FUNERAL INFORMATION

A Celebration of Life and graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22 at Cedar Bayou Methodist Cemetery in Baytown, Texas.
