John William Bruer
December 18, 1927 - July 21, 2016
His smile and twinkling eyes were enjoyed by everyone he met.
John was born in Angus, Minnesota. In 1946, he graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer, Minnesota. He received an associate teaching degree from Moorhead State Teacher’s College in Moorhead, Minnesota.
His working career included teaching elementary school for 3 years in Minnesota; was the produce manager for A&P Foods and Safeway stores in Seattle, Washington and spent 32 years delivering mail for the United States Postal Service in Seattle. He and his wife were managers of numerous Escapees, Inc. RV parks in Nevada and Arizona, following his retirement from the post office.
He married WillaMay Searles on December 14, 1952. Their honeymoon was spent driving from Minnesota to Washington State. They enjoyed 63 years together.
In addition to his wife, WillaMay, he is also survived by 2 daughters: Bonnie Frederick (Michael) and Becky Cavanaugh (Vincent); 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
John enjoyed helping others as well as making things from wood and cement. His smile and twinkling eyes were enjoyed by everyone he met.
