Jim was a down to earth, loving, generous, and caring family man
James (Jim) Patrick Glasgow Sr., age 70, of Snohomish, WA passed away peacefully in his home on October 30th, 2016, after an extended battle with Dementia.
Jim was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on August 1st, 1946, to John and Lillian Glasgow. When he was two years old his family moved to Lynnwood, WA where he grew up. He attended Edmonds High School and graduated in 1964. He then went on to serve in the US Navy during Vietnam. He was patriotic man and he served his country with pride and he loved his country. In 1976 he married his wife Pam and moved to Snohomish where they built their home and raised their family. He passed away at their home on the date of their 40th wedding anniversary.
Jim was a down to earth, loving, generous, and caring family man. Family was always his first priority and family always came first no matter what was going on in life. His family was what he valued most and he was very proud. Jim was a good husband, an outstanding father, grandpa, a role model, a father figure, and a great friend. He was greatly respected by all that knew him and he was never too busy to lend a helping hand to a friend who was in need.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He liked watching NASCAR races, Mariner and Seahawks games on TV. On most nights you would find him hanging out in the garage listening to country music on the radio while telling stories. His garage became a special place to hang out for anyone who visited the house. Barbeques and family gatherings were very special times for Jim. He loved BBQ ribs and chicken wings.
Jim Loved cars… His love for cars started at a very young age. He worked on cars with his dad before he got his license and got into auto racing. Jim loved racing cars with his dad and his best friend Dave Nichol. Dave was his brother as far as he was concerned. They did everything together over the years...
In Jim’s lifetime he became a very dedicated and well respected racer in the PNW for Decades. He raced everything from foreign stock cars, to sprint cars, and also NASCAR Superstock cars. He was a racing pioneer in the PNW and became very well respected and liked in the racing community.
Jim was also a brilliant mechanic and dedicated his life working in the automotive and transit industry. After the Navy he worked at local Ford dealerships for 10 years. He then went on to make a career as a lead mechanic at Metro Transit for 33 years until he retired in September 2011. He always cared about the people who worked by his side and was proud of the strong friendships that he developed while working over the years.
Some of Jim’s proudest years were the years he spend coaching and umpiring baseball and softball for Snohomish Little League. He coached baseball to spend more time with his kids and really loved it. He was a great teacher of the game and was a role model for everyone who played for him. His players were very important to him and he enjoyed watching them grow over the years.

Memorial
My Father's Arms
When I'm tired, sad, or lonely,
When few others seem to care.
There's a place I go to get away,
For there are no troubles there.
I can laugh or cry or fall asleep,
or all my problems bare.
It's the one place, where I can just be me,
For there are no troubles there.
I love that place, it's peaceful warmth,
A place with many charms.
My favorite place...in all the world,
Is in my Father's arms
