Daniel V. G. Locke

December 23, 1916 - March 17, 2016 

Daniel V. G. Locke passed away on March 17, 2016 at Providence General Hospital, Everett, WA. After struggling with congestive heart failure, lung and kidney conditions, he died at age 99, but his goal was to live to be 100.

He is survived by his children: daughter Judith Heidman and her husband Henry Heidman, daughter Nancy Cox and her husband Don Cox, daughter Carole Troup and her husband Michael Troup, and son Arnold Locke and his lifelong partner Cathy Anderson. Grandchildren: Teresa Wilson Hanner and her husband Craig Hanner, Angela Heidman Caldwell an her husband Brian Caldwell, Chalen Kelly, John Wilson and his family, and David Williams and his wife Rene Williams.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Mattie May Locke (Moore), his sister Betty Jean Theilan, father George Gormley Locke and mother Florence Eugenia Locke (Anderson), grand parents Daniel Wheeler Locke and Eva Locke (Kerr) and Victor and Matilda Anderson.

Daniel was born in Portland, Oregon to Florence (Anderson) and George G. Locke in 1916. He grew up in Everett, attended Everett High School, and Edison Vocational School. He worked as a Lab Technician until retiring in 1980. His interests included sailing, making model airplanes, square dancing, fitness, and organ music. He loved to go out for dinner, play slots at the casino, and could tell jokes all day. He chopped wood for his fireplaces, mowed his yard and played basketball into his 90's. He was an avid Seahawks and Huskies Football Teams supporter. The Family wishes to express our appreciation to the staff of Sunrise Nursing Home and to his Lake Stevens neighbors.
