Lenard Ezechiel Igama Alvarez

April 10, 1971 - March 08, 2017

Lenard is truly loved by his family and friends

Lenard Ezechiel Igama Alvarez passed away peacefully on March 8, 2017 at UW Medicine after a courageous, year-long battle with AML at the age of 45.  Born in Seattle, WA on April 10, 1971, he attended grade school at St. Benedict, high school at Blanchet, and graduated from the University of Washington with a major in Accounting and Central Washington University with a major in Economics. He served a term as Treasurer of the Mabinian Association of Washington State. Lenard joined the United States Postal Service in January 1999 and served as a letter carrier, mostly in the Ballard area. Lenard married Jane Ann Ravarra and moved to Lynnwood in 2002. They were blessed with their only child and his greatest achievement, Jayelyn in 2015.

Lenard is survived by his wife, Jane Ann, daughter, Jayelyn, parents Armando and Violeta Alvarez, sisters Arleh (Ken) Alvarez and Vivian (Jon) McCulloch, and nephews Dylan and Raylen.

Lenard had a great sense of humor. He was a lover of music, dancing, good food, sports, taking pictures, and collecting sneakers. He was known as "Shugs" (Shuga Ray Lenard) amongst his close friends and was well known and respected by many in the sneaker community nationwide. It was through the sneaker community that his brotherhood (TFQ) came about. Lenard enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He loved visiting Hawaii and established many close friendships, and it was there that his Hawaii Family, the SeeFoodDietCrew was born. Lenard is truly loved by his family and friends.

We would like to extend our thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the SCCA and UW Medicine.
