Seattle resident Linda Papaso, age 80, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2018 near her home in Seattle Washington. Born Linda Richardson Cutter, June 30th, 1937 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Linda entered Charlotte’s high society in the 1950’s as a gifted artist with striking beauty and was a former Carousel Queen. Linda graduated from Holton Arms College with a degree in Art. She became a widow to her late husband Henry Papaso from whom she was married from 1961 – 1971 and resided in Washington DC.
Linda then moved to Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood at the historic Roy Vue Apartments in the early 1970s where she resided for 48 years. Upon her arrival Linda cemented her presence in the Seattle art community while working as a resident artist for the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Linda favored Greek and Turkish culture which she also contributed to through her artistic gifts. For many years Linda worked at the iconic Bon Marche (later Macy’s) in downtown Seattle utilizing the #47 bus route to and from work, a route that she helped protect and reinstate in 2015.
A devout Christian, Linda shared her love of god with all who knew her and touched the lives of many through her extraordinary paintings, quiet eccentricity, humor, and near the end through her gentle and merited wisdom. Linda is survived by her three brothers John, George, and Bryant Cutter and their respective wives and children. At her wish, Linda’s final resting place will be in Charlotte, where her life began and be returned to her family mausoleum. At her request, no formal service will be held.
