Ellen A. Lin

August 15, 1935 - April 3, 2018

Ellen A. Lin, mother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2018 with her daughter by her side.  She was 82 years old.  Ellen was born in Hangzhou, China and emigrated from Taipei, Taiwan to the United States by herself when she was 20 years old.  She attended the Chicago Evangelical Institute and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1957.

She worked as a laboratory chemist in the Seattle area for more than twenty years.  During that time, she adopted her goddaughter Lilly from Taipei when Lilly was fourteen.  After Lilly graduated from college, Ellen began working as a founding broker with Home Realty in Seattle, and was a huge part of that company’s foundation.

Ellen was always bigger than life, and she had many adventures in real estate that no other person could ever dream of.  She had a heart of gold but could also put you in your place as well.  Ellen was extremely generous and gracious.  She kept everyone well fed wherever she went.  She was a born gatherer and loved to u-pick fruit in eastern Washington and harvest clams and crabs in the Puget Sound.  She was a good mom to her several cats.  Religion was a big part of Ellen’s life, she was a devout Christian and sang in her church choir.

Ellen is survived by her daughter Lilly Huth, son-in-law Jeff, sister Chu Chuan Tse, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her father Chu Pu Zhou, mother Chu Lee, brothers Chu Chuan Yi and Chu Chuan Hao, and sister Chu Chuan Kang.  Special thanks to nephew Dick Chen (Tina), nephew Steve Chu and his wife Jaime Chu, and nieces Josephine Chu and Jessie Cheng Schrepel (Stephan), who were all by Ellen’s side during her last days.  Also special thanks to Asfaw Delay, Beatrice and the rest of the staff and residents at Lynnwood Park Home for their care and friendship over the last year.

The family has scheduled a private memorial service for Ellen.
