Suzanna Lynn Johnson

May 19, 1954 - March 31, 2018

Suzanna Lynn Johnson passed away March 31, 2018 at her home in Bothell, WA after an eight-year battle with breast cancer.  She was 63 years old.

Suzanna was born on May 19, 1954 at Northgate Hospital in Seattle, WA to Will and Patsy Harder.  She is survived by her husband, William Johnson, her daughter Marie Johnson, her mother, Patsy Harder of Camano Island, and her siblings, her older sister Cindi Massee of Bothell and her younger brothers Mark Harder of Everett, John Harder of Mill Creek, and Barry Harder of Bothell.  She is predeceased by her father Will Harder who passed in 2001.  She was raised in Ballard and attended Adams Elementary School, Marcus Whitman Junior High School and Ballard High School graduating in 1972.  It was at Marcus Whitman that she met her lifelong friends Kristy Schaaf (Balzer), Barbara McKenna (Dennison), Marty Gordon, and Karen Olsen (Starup).

On November 1, 1975 she married William L. Johnson of Seattle (Greenlake District) at Trinity Methodist Church in Ballard.  At the time of her passing they had been married for 42 years.

After her marriage Suzanna chose Nursing as her lifelong profession.  She graduated from Shoreline Community College in March of 1981 with a two-year RN degree.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1989 from Seattle Pacific University graduating cum laude.  In 1991 she became a Nurse Practitioner by attaining a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Washington.  Shortly after her graduation, she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

During and after her academic achievements Suzanna held a variety of jobs.  Early-on she worked for Taylor Edwards Warehouse and Transfer Company in Seattle.  She was employed as the office RN for Dr. Robert Anderson, a General Practitioner in Edmonds.  She was the Skill’s Lab Instructor at Shoreline Community College from 1992 until 2005.  She finished her career at Group Health on Capital Hill and Bellevue working in the Anesthesia Clinic and retiring when she could no longer work due to her illness.  While at Group Health she was selected as the first employee-of-the-month when the program was instituted in 2013.  That same year she was named by Seattle Magazine as one of Seattle’s best Nurse Practitioners.  Suzanna was able to combine a comprehensive knowledge of medicine with a genuine concern for every patient.

As a native daughter of the Northwest, descended from a pioneering family on Camano Island, Suzanna loved the outdoors.  She skied and was an avid golfer. Her swing tempo was so smooth and fluid that she would often get compliments from strangers on the course. She was also an avid climber and hiker.  She summited Mt. St. Helens before it erupted as well as many other peaks throughout the western U.S.  She was a member of Mill Bay Resort at Lake Chelan and spent a good part of every summer on the Lake.  One of her favorite activities was cruising the Lake and the nearby Columbia River in her pontoon boat.

Suzanna had a terrific sense of humor, a brilliant smile and a loving heart.  She touched many people during her life.  She will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends.
