Bernita "Suzie" Fleek

December 31, 1924 - January 28, 2018

Bernita “Suzie” May Fleek passed away at home on January 28, 2018 with her daughter Jayne by her side.  She was 93 years old.  Born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota with 3 brothers.

In 1945, she married Nelson Fleek and had her daughters Judy and Jayne.  Nelson and Bernita raised their family in Mandan, North Dakota; Lompoc, California and Tacoma, Washington where she lived for 50 years as a homemaker.  Her interests included family, sewing, baking and traveling.  Bernita and Nelson loved to travel in their motorhome visiting family and friends. Bernita devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members and those she loved, a trait she passed down.

Bernita adored her family, especially her grandchildren Matthew and Victoria.  She was always present at school concerts, sporting events and family celebrations.  Her love expanded further with the birth of each of her great-grandchildren Austin, Kari, Cole, Cade, Grace and Ellawyn.  She moved to Pahrump, NV in 1998 where she lived after the death of her husband Nelson. Bernita’s cheerful smile and caring ways were beloved by many at the senior center.  She rarely missed a bridge day and was always thrilled to come home winning 25 cents.

Bernita is survived by her daughter Jayne VonFleek, 2 grandchildren and their spouses Matthew and Melissa Carlson and Scott and Victoria Nelson; her son-in-law Jim Gardner (Judy); 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nelson, her daughter Judy and her infant twins Donald and Nelson Jr.
