January 30, 1927 - March 21, 2015

Constance Lou "Connie" Milne of Everett, 88, left this life on March 21, 2015 to be reunited with loved ones who had gone before.

Connie was born January 29, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Gertrude Irene and Arthur Melville Weaver. She was a precocious child from the very beginning: "My earliest memory is of walking on the beach on a Sunday morning with Daddy. A true-blue Aquarian, I headed straight for the water! With Daddy in pursuit! Still wearing his bedroom slippers! Which made me roar with laughter! I'm glad my first memory was a happy one."

Art Weaver was an insurance agent whose career took the family, including Connie and her beloved younger brother Richard Michael "Dick" Weaver, from Ohio to Illinois, Missouri and ultimately to Portland, Oregon. Despite being bounced from school to school, Connie excelled and graduated from high school early. By age 16, she was attending Oregon State College in Corvallis, planning on becoming a journalist and travelling the world. Love intervened when Connie met World War II veteran William S. "Bill" Milne on a 1945 New Year's Eve blind date at Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood, OR.

They married Dec. 21, 1946, much to the delight of a close-knit circle of fraternity brothers (Fiji), sorority sisters (Pi Beta Phi) and friends. The Fiji group remained connected for more than 50 years with monthly potlucks and annual camping trips to the Breitenbush Lake (HAIL BLAEL!) area near Mt Jefferson, OR.

Connie and Bill began married life in Portland, moved to Ohio for four years, returning to Portland and moving to Everett where they lived until all their kids graduated from high school. In 1974, they moved to Woodland, Washington, where they lived for 20 years. When Bill passed in 1994 Connie moved to Snohomish to be close to family and friends and lived there for almost 20 years, followed by moves back to Everett sandwiched around a brief stint on Whidbey Island.

Among her many activities and interests over the years Connie ran her own bookstore, served Cowlitz County League of Women Voters, Adult Literacy tutor, Founding member of Assistance League of Everett, ultimately served as the President and signing the 1st lease for Operation School Bell, volunteered in her local church and political campaigns. An avid reader who also dabbled in painting and drawing, Connie enjoyed card games, loved music from Pavarotti to Tony Bennett to John Denver, could complete virtually any crossword puzzle and beat virtually anyone at Scrabble. Her dreams of travel were realized with trips to Scotland, Hawaii, Alaska and other environs with Bill, as well as Greece and glorious days and nights on the Oregon Coast and in the Willamette National Forest with family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband Bill, daughter in law Mary Schuh and Connie's brother Dick preceded her passing. Surviving family members include sons Sandy, Dick (Lisa) and Jim (Gloria) Milne, daughter Barb (Darrell) Olson, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to acknowledge Amy's Adult Family Home Everett and caregivers for their gracious and loving care for Connie over her final months. "Hugs"
