Amaryllis Dawn Whitmarsh

September 2, 1933 - November 16, 2022

Amaryllis Dawn Whitmarsh, 89 a lifelong Washington resident, died peacefully November 16, 2022, predeceased by her husband Derek P. Whitmarsh and her brother William Shanafelt.

Amaryllis “Amy” was born in Seattle, WA, the daughter of the late William Shanafelt and Myrtle (Esary) Shanafelt, whose family lineage made her a part of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Amy graduated from the University of Washington. She was a Delta Zeta Sorority member and enjoyed folk dancing where she met her future husband Derek. She proudly celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary in 2015.

Amy is survived by her two daughters Narri Dowd and husband Clint (his two daughters Alexis & Mikaela) of Goffstown, NH, and Sherri Whitmarsh and husband Brennan Bankston of Austin, TX, her son Ian Whitmarsh, Ian’s two sons Jonah & Reid of Whidbey Island, WA and her beloved cat Kit Kit.

Amy loved her home on the south end of Camano Island with views of the Olympic Mountain range and Mount Rainer. She enjoyed walks on the beach looking for agates and watching whales and sea lions outside her front door. She was an active member of the Skagit and Everett Rock and Gem Club and had a passion for making jewelry from the rocks and gems she collected.

Amy will be dearly missed and always remembered with a smile.
