Danette Marie Goree

February 26, 1962 - January 21, 2023

Danette Marie Goreé was born on February 26th, 1962 in Tacoma, Washington to Daniel Thomas Riche and Bobette Irene Sheaffer. Though her life led her to several places such as Reno, Nevada; Grants Pass, Oregon; and many more, Danette was a long-time resident of Washington state for over 30 years. She lived in Lake Stevens, Washington for the last 10 years with her long-time, devoted spouse of 19 years, Scott Worthing. Over the course of their relationship, they became inseparable and they both loved each other immensely.

Danette never went anywhere until she looked like an absolute angel with her hair and makeup done just right. There was never a time when she didn’t have perfectly manicured nails; gorgeous, sweeping eyelashes; or her hair done perfectly. To say that she enjoyed pampering herself is an understatement. She also loved sharing these moments with her three daughters, Mishayla, Amanda, and Breanna when they would go out for girls’ days. In addition to being an excellent mother to her three daughters, Danette enjoyed nothing more than her role as a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and always loved spending time with them to create special memories.

In addition to spending time with her family, Danette also enjoyed spending time out in her garden, a hobby that she shared in common with her mother, Bobette. She also loved caring for her birds, going camping, coloring in her coloring books, going for an escape at the “little casino” to play her favorite Tigress machine, playing poker and bingo, and traveling. One of her lifelong goals was to go to London, England as Danette always admired Princess Diana and tried to live life in the same way she did, by giving back to others.

Because of her determination, drive, and care for others, Danette served as a financial services specialist with the Department of Social and Health Services for many years. She then went back to college later in life to pursue a degree that would allow her to continue serving those within her community. In 2014, she graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Human Development with a focus on social work. She earned cum laude honors distinctions at the time she graduated due to all of her hard work. Danette also started a local, free gifting group called The Giving Tree in the city of Lake Stevens in order to help foster community and give back to those within it. This group was also the start of many wonderful friendships that Danette had. She also went on to work as a job coach for those with special needs, helping them to secure and maintain employment in the Greater Seattle area.

Danette will be remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her smile lit up a room, her laughter was contagious, and her beauty and wit were unmatched. We will remember her willingness to do anything to protect her family; her selfless, giving nature; and her delicious cooking, especially her coveted salsa recipe.

Danette passed away peacefully in her Lake Stevens home on January 21st, 2023 after a long battle with COPD.

Danette is survived by her spouse, Scott; her former husband, Timothy; her daughters, Mishayla, Amanda and Breanna; her stepchildren, Nichole, Austin and Brandon; her brothers, Timothy, Thomas, and Christopher; her sister, Danna; her grandchildren, Dylan, Braedyn, Keaton, Weston, Lachlan, and Presley; as well as numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and other extended family members and friends whom she loved so much.

Danette is preceded in death by her parents, Bobette and Daniel; her step-father, John; her former husband, Donald; and her step-son, Christopher.

Danette will be greatly missed, but her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
