George David Poharcyk
May 20, 1955 - April 27, 2022
George David Poharcyk, born May 20, 1955, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, surrounded by his family. George was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who dedicated himself to giving his family a wonderful and fulfilling life.
George, the son of Walter J. and Ethel (Clare) Poharcyk, was born in Hartford, Connecticut. After a short time in foster care, George moved to California at the age of 18 with his foster brother, Howard Foley. In 1978, George and Robin met on the CB radio as Yankee Roamer and Rockin’ Robin. In 1982, they united in marriage in Carpinteria, California.
George, Robin, and their three children enjoyed regular visits to the beach, amusement parks, road trips to national parks, and other places. George loved admiring the day and night sky and had a true appreciation for nature. In 1996, they moved to Washington state, where they currently reside.
George landed his favorite job at Boeing, where he cultivated his 'work family,' as he affectionately called them. He loved his neighbors, took pride in home updates, enjoyed repairing and tinkering with small electronics to vehicles. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need: family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers with flat tires. He will always be remembered as that kind, loving person.
Survived by his wife, Robin; three children, Shawna (Rob) Allessi, Kara (Nicholas) Proulx, Travis (fiancée Stephanie Maltos) Poharcyk; two sisters, Nancy Cherry and Linda Kuka, both of Connecticut; two grandchildren of Washington; nieces and nephews in Connecticut and California. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. and Ethel (Clare) Poharcyk.
