Geraldine-Geri Adams
December 3, 1933 - February 11, 2021
Geraldine "Geri" Adams passed away peacefully in Woodway, Washington at the age of 87 with her daughters by her side. Geri was born to Joseph and Nora in December 1933 at their home in Virginia City, Montana. Geri shared her upbringing with older sisters Juanita & Yvonne. As a young girl, her family moved to Kirkland, Washington for a period of time where her father worked in the shipyards in support of World War II.
Geri was predeceased by her husband, Jack Adams. Jack and Geri lived in Whitehall, Montana and later moved to Bolivar, Missouri where they lived until Jack's passing. At that time, Geri returned to Butte, Montana. Geri had two children with her second husband, son Michael Dunne and daughter, Colleen Dunne (McManus), husband Shawn. Geri had three children with her first husband, Laura Bishop (Odegaard), husband Per, Garfield John Bishop (deceased) and Dwight Bishop (deceased).
Geri's first husband was in the military, allowing Geri the opportunity to travel to many places, including Bad Toltz, Germany. It was during her time in Germany, that Geri said were some of the happiest times of her life. No matter where Geri lived, in her heart, Montana was always home.
Geri spent most of her working years in the healthcare field, employed as a medical records secretary at both the Murray Clinic in Butte and the Bolivar Family Care in Bolivar. Upon Geri's retirement in August 2000, she moved back to Butte for a short period of time before finally settling down in the Seattle area for the remainder of her life.
Geri didn't like sitting still, so she occupied herself with reading, rearranging and tidying up her home. She took pleasure in playing card games, cribbage with her family and pinochle and bridge with her friends. She also enjoyed many fun activities and outings with her closest friends. She especially enjoyed doting on her children and grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Geri was quite vicarious in nature, simply enjoying the invitation to share in the excursions and the many hobbies and interests of her loved ones. These excursions often involved vacations to places she would have never imagined seeing such as Hawaii and Mexico. She also enjoyed school sports, theatrical plays, musical concerts and various outdoor activities of her children and grandchildren.
It is through Geri's greatest attributes where she will be so deeply missed; devotion, selflessness and sense of humor. Her devotion as a mother and grandmother could be measured in her constant reminders of affirmation and her baking of banana bread, chocolate chip cookies and the Irish cookie known as a "dunker". Through this devotion, she raised and nurtured very resilient and independent children. Her selflessness was abundant in her constant insistence to forgo her own comfort. Geri had a wonderful sense of humor and it was great fun being around her.
Geri is survived by and will be deeply missed by her sister, Yvonne Jory whom she had a special connection with, in that anytime they were together, hilarity and shenanigans were guaranteed to ensue. She is also survived by her 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren as well as a niece and 4 nephews.
Rest In Peace our beloved mother.
