Mark Edward Sizemore
December 28, 1970 - October 17, 2019
Mark Edward Sizemore – brother, father, Eagle Scout, Jayhawk, and veteran – died Oct. 17, 2019, at his home in West Lake Stephens, WA, at age 48.
He was born in Sacramento, CA, and lived a full life in which he saw many parts of the world. During elementary school, Mark lived in Germany with his family, before returning to the United States and graduating from Millard North High School in Omaha, NE, in 1989.
Mark attended the University of Kansas, in Lawrence, KS, and graduated in 1993 with a degree in computer science. Mark received a Commission as an Air Force Officer through Reserve Officer Training at KU, in 1993. After completing Space & Missile training at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, Mark was assigned to the 321st Missile Squadron at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY, where he served as a Flight Commander of Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile launch crews. While in the Air Force, Mark earned his master’s degree from Lesley College. He separated honorably from the Air Force in 1998, having achieved the rank of Captain. As a distinction of Mark’s service, he was a recipient of the Air Force Achievement Medal, Combat Readiness Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. After his military service, Mark worked as an information technology project manager throughout his professional career in both Kansas and Washington.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Edward, in 1991, and mother, Sherry, in 2018. He is survived, by his son, Cameron, sister Marcie Currier and her family, Chris, Parker and Payton, and aunt Kris Bybee and her family, Don and Laurel.
