Mary Karen Lynch
April 9, 1931 - February 7, 2018
Mary Karen Lynch, 86, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 with family by her side.
She was born on April 9th, 1931 to Clement and Florence Peterson in Evanston, IL and grew up there with her two sisters. Her family moved to Yakima, WA, where she graduated from high school & met an Ellensburg native, Richard “Dick” Lynch. She attended Central Washington University and began her married life in Ellensburg where she & Dick raised their three children and were very active in their community and church. Mary was an office manager of their family business, Lynch Motor Service, for over 30 years.
Upon retirement they moved to Issaquah & became ‘house parents’ for six years at the former Lutheran Bible Institute. Mary & Dick did mission trips to Molokai, HI, volunteered in tutoring children & gave freely of their talents at Mt. Rainier National Park. They traveled extensively throughout the US in their RV. They also greatly enjoyed coming to their Camano Island beach cabin every chance they could for crabbing and fishing. Eventually Camano Island became full-time home. For the past 5 years they have lived at Josephine’s in Stanwood.
Although Mary is greatly missed, her family rejoices in the knowledge that she is in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her loving husband of over 68 years, Dick, her sisters Edith Martin and Janet Johnson, three children - Kathryn (Kent) Wallace, Steve (Janice) Lynch and David (Julia) Lynch and two grandchildren, Bradley Lynch and Abbie Lynch.
