Robert Stalcup

May 24, 1948 - October 16, 2020

Robert (Bob) J Stalcup, 72 of Everett passed away on October 16th, 2020 peacefully in his sleep after many health struggles toward the end of life. He was born on May 24th, 1948 in Oakland California. He lived in many parts of California as a child before his family settled down on a large piece of rural land in Cottage Grove Oregon.

Bob grew up and later met Peggy in Cottage Grove through her sister Patti. Patti sold him an ornery horse who, as it turns out, did not like men. After breaking his arm by being bucked many times, Bob came back to practice riding his new horse with Patti, and to be near Peggy more. The two later fell in love, moved to Washington, and raised their two daughters who he adored - Kodi & Shelby. They stuck together for 30+ years. Though they parted ways in their later years when their girls were grown - they always maintained being a family with their girls first, and friends to each other.

Bob worked hard to provide for his family many years of his life - often working long 16-hour days as a long-distance trucker. He also held many jobs during his career. Some of which included dump-truck driver, machinist, taxi driver, driving cargo of unknown contents in long guarded military convoys, and even with the Trident program in San Francisco, to name a few.

He was known to be a dare devil in his younger years, had a trickster nature, and a twinkle in his eye. He would laugh so hard at his own jokes that he would often snort, which made it hard not to laugh with him. Bob also enjoyed fishing & boating. He tinkered with refitting old boats, which left him & his crew stranded many a-time out in the Puget Sound to be rescued by the coast guard. As a Dad, Bob made sure his beloved Daughters had the new technology as it came out. He loved playing video games with his girls, teaching them to use a computer, as well taking them out tubing at the lake.

Later in life, Bob enjoyed his new role as, “Peepaw,” to his grandkids. He always made a point to see them almost every Sunday - no matter how bad his health got. Even if he could barely walk that day, you could often find him out pushing Charlotte in the swing outside, or playing toys with Christian at the table.

Bob is survived by his initial core family of Kodi, Shelby, & Peggy. In addition to the expanded family he gained by his son-in-law Mike (husband of Kodi), their two kids/grandkids Christian & Charlotte, Shelby’s significant other John, nephews Ashkon, Ryan, & Shane, family Patti & Guy, best friend Patrick, and many more.

His ashes will be laid to rest by his family with a ferry ride to Whidbey Island to have a water memorial with a flower wreath send-off and lots of love. Due to the Pandemic, no large gathering celebration of life will be had. The family asks instead that you have some Chinese food (which he loved) in honor of him and share any special memories you have online.

We miss you & love you always Bob.
