Rose Marie Lehmann

July 17, 1945 - October 4, 2021

Rose Marie Lehmann passed away, peacefully, on Monday, October 4, 2021, at the age of 76 years. Rosey, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Farragut, Idaho, on July 17, 1945, where her father was stationed at Farragut Naval Station. Rosey grew up in North Seattle and lived most of her life in the state of Washington.

Rosey is survived by her husband, Lee Lehmann, of Anacortes, Washington, her sister, Charlene Nelson of Kirkland, Washington, her grandchildren, Kelsey Doughty and Corey Doughty, her son-in-law, Troy Doughty and one great-granddaughter, Adaline Mitchell, all from Auburn, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Charlotte Huse and her daughter, Tami Marie Doughty.

Rosey attended the University of Washington, where she majored in music, concentrating on Classical Piano. After college, though, she began a career in the electronics field. She worked as a printed circuit designer and met her future husband, Lee, when they both worked at Telephonics Instrument Company.

Rosey was also an accomplished motorcycle rider and an expert downhill skier. She also enjoyed cross-country skiing with Lee.

Lee and Rosey were married on April 12, 1975. They lived in Kent, Washington, for over 40 years. They had several acres of land and raised many different animals. Initially, Rosey was very interested in horses. She retired from the electronics business to concentrate on breeding, raising and boarding horses. As Rosey was an accomplished dressage rider, she and Lee built a barn and riding arena, where Rosey gave lessons in the art of dressage riding.

During construction of the barn and arena, Rosey was often out in the field, driving her own tractor that was equipped with a loader and a backhoe. In the spring, she put a mower on the tractor and mowed the pastures.

Sometime later, Rosey and Lee discovered Highland Cattle. They bought some of those interesting cattle and showed them at county fairs throughout Washington.

Rosey then became interested in Border Collies, dogs that are known for their sheep herding talents. She raised several of these dogs, bought and raised sheep with which to train the dogs and gave lessons to other Border Collie owners on how to train the dogs. This love of those dogs lasted for many years. Rosey entered her dogs in many sheep-herding competitions.

Through their many connections and friendships, Rosey and Lee met a couple who owned a boat. Jack and Jo Stone became lifelong friends. The two couples traveled together on the Helen Marie, the boat owned by the Stones. Eventually, Lee and Rosey bought the Helen Marie from their friends. As Lee and Rosey were both retired by then, they were able to take long trips on the Helen Marie up into British Columbia and Alaska, meeting other boating people, many of whom became fast friends. Rosey loved the Helen Marie. Although the boat was sold a few years before her death, she always called the Helen Marie, “my boat”.

Lee and Rosey moved to Anacortes in 2011, to Skyline Marina area. Rosey and Lee became members of the Flounder Bay Yacht Club.

Rosey had an artistic flair. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed working in stained glass, crocheting, doing macrame, beading and raising orchids.

Her talents were many, her friendships were always expanding and her energy was limitless. She was loved by all who knew her and her presence will be greatly missed.

A Sacred Moment Funeral Services are caring for Rosey.

No memorial services are planned at this time.
