William Horneman

July 12, 1946 - November 24, 2021

William Edward Horneman was born on July 12, 1946 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to August and Alberta Horneman, the oldest of 4 children. Bill grew up in New Kensington, in love with the outdoors even as a boy. In fact, his parents would make him take his clothes off before coming into the house and empty his pockets of all his "treasures" that he had accumulated on his adventures. Many of them wiggled. Bill graduated from New Ken High in 1964.

Bill served in the U. S. Navy from 1966-1969 on the USS North Hampton. After his honorable discharge, Bill had a variety of jobs. The next significant milestone was 1976 when Bill put his trust in Jesus as his Savior. Shortly after that he met Kathleen O'Neil at a Christian coffeehouse in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania. The two married on October 23, 1976.

Bill and Kathy made their first home in Monroeville, Pennsylvania where Bill served as a delivery driver. Their first child came into their lives when Daniel was born in 1980. The family moved a number of times in the next years until landing in Chicora, Pennsylvania in 1982, the year Alicia was born. Bill had a number of jobs to care for their family as God grew them in dependence on Him. During this time Bill attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, graduating in Commercial Art. Micah was born into the family in 1986, and the family had their next move, this time to the state of Washington, in 1987 at the promise of employment.

Bill, Kathy and family lived in Seattle initially where Bill secured a church custodial job. The move from rural Pennsylvania to downtown Seattle was a culture shock for the entire family. But the move was a good move. Following their time in the initial house, they moved in with friends for over a year. This was followed by a move to the home in Marysville where they lived for the duration of Bill's life.

Bill became active in Royal Rangers while in Pennsylvania and continued with this ministry in Washington, appreciating the incorporation of the Bible with outdoor life skills.

Bill served on the custodial staff of several churches until landing a job with the city of Monroe, retiring in 2014.

Bill, Kathy and family were active in church life throughout their married years, most recently at Atonement Free Lutheran Church, beginning in the year 2000. Bill loved God. He stood for truth. He passionately loved his family. He loved the outdoors. And his interest in emergency preparations equipped him to provide several workshops to aid others in preparations. He loved to share his knowledge with others.

Bill passed from this life on November 24, 2021 in Everett, Washington at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Kathy of 45 years; son Daniel (Shauna)Horneman, daughter Alicia (Shawn) Palmer, and son Micah Horneman; grandchildren Scarlet, Violet, and Esme Horneman and Emily Arisia and Grayson Palmer; sister Janet Szelc, brothers John and Tom Horneman; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Thank you. We celebrate his life.
